A landmark in the field of animation, the towering King Kong who scaled the equally towering New York City Empire State Building was actually only 18 inches tall, was covered with horse hair and the rest was magic, Hollywood style. The year was 1933 and a Classic Film was created that continues to endure and delight today. The film has been remade twice and the basic storyline copied in other films but Kong at only 18 inches continues to tower above all comers as the first and the original.
