Movie Makin' & Its Special Effects At Memory Lane Magazine (1958*)

The Golden Age Of Comedy 1958 The Golden Age Of Comedy 1958
A compilation project, THE GOLDEN AGE OF COMEDY in 1958, had as part of the project, the above two scenes, which illustrate the sometimes virtual simplicity of special effects. Note the high speed 'get outa my way' chase. The wind is blowing, the scenery is whizzing by, his scarf is wind whipped and trailing to the rear but all is not as it seems which is always the case, in the magic of Hollywood. Let your eyes journey to the right and then laugh, after all,it is from "The Golden Age Of Comedy".
As you can see the high speed chase is just an illusion. There is no wind, there is no scenery whizzing by, just two guys with a painting running by in the background, create the whizzing of scenery. His scarf is not wind whipped, the scarf whipping is actually fan blowing. In fact there is no high speed chase, no 'get outta my way', that's cause there is no car, just a table with steering wheel attached. There is laughter though because as I said it is from "The Golden Age Of Comedy".Rob Tucker/MLM

* "The Golden Age Of Comedy", was produced in 1958 as stated but the scenes above that were part of that film were originally in a film from the Silent Era. That film title is not known to MLM.
