The Saturday Matinee Vol. 1 No.1 Premiere Issue
HELLO AND WELCOME TO THE PREMIERE ISSUE OF
THE SATURDAY MATINEE.

First for us to get acquainted as while many of you know me
some do not and I thought I would in this first issue touch
on my background. I started as a collector at age 8, and will soon hit the
double nickels at 55. Nostalgia has not only been a life long hobby but a
life long love as well. I published Memory Lane Magazine in its printed form
from 1979-1983, was also publisher of Yesterday's Saturdays # 17 & 18. Have
written extensively on various aspects of nostalgia, alot on B Westerns. As
publisher of Memory Lane many of the articles appeared on its pages. I love
it, from Roy Rogers, To Howdy Doody, Shirley Temple To Bogart so I try to
reflect that in my undertakings. I wanted to make this first newsletter a
get acquainted issue and because it is opt-in I certainly would like to hear
from you on things you would like to know about or ask about, or tell me
about. That way I can learn also. So please feel free to hit reply and let
me hear from you.

INTERESTING NEW ADVENTURE: If you are a fan of Roy Rogers, Gene Autry or
indeed any of the 'Great Silver Screen Cowboys' then join an e-group that
has the same interest. It is really an interesting concept and you get to
meet and exchange views and just comments in general on the movie cowboys
many of us grew up with. I joined and have enjoyed it.  Alan Davis began the
group and it has steadily grown. Hey if they'll let me in you're a cinch.

AN OLD RADIO FACT:
On April 6, 1931 Harold Gray's famous comic strip character 'Little Orphan
Annie' sprang to life on radio. A favorite for many years the original
program was sponsored by Ovaltine. The juvenile adventure serial actually
had two different child actresses playing the part of Annie. Broadcasting
from Chicago, Shirley Bell and originating from San Francisco, Floy Margaret
Hughes.

IT'S TRIVIAL:
On July 12, 1944 in Culver City, California then Captain Ronald Reagan
signed discharge papers for Major Clark Gable.

LIT'L BIT OF MOVIE HISTORY:
In honor of the Roy Rogers e-group, whose endeavor is to bring together fans
of the movie cowboys. SOME ROY HISTORY: It was 1947 and Roy Rogers was "King
Of The Cowboys". Despite strong opposition from the front office, who feared
the results would diminish his immense popularity, Roy on December 31, 1947
wed his leading lady Dale Evans. It wasn't the first time the front office
was wrong, nor the last. His popularity indeed, their popularity soared to
new heights.
