LIT'L BIT OF MOVIE HISTORY:
Most everyone surely know by now that Gene Autry was the 'First Of The
Singing Cowboys' but it also bears reporting that in the heyday of the B
Western, Gene broke with tradition and became the first film cowboy to use
his real name as the handle of the character he played on screen.
*****************************************
AN OLD RADIO FACT:
OUR MISS BROOKS: Everybody's favorite high school teacher was Eve Arden. She
played Connie Brooks on the popular series, first heard on radio, later
moving television. The radio version had, yet to be movie idol Jeff Chandler
as Mr. Boynton, the biology teacher and love interest to Eve Arden. Richard
Crenna was her favorite student and Gale Gordon her principal.
******************************************
ITS TRIVIAL:
The Dead End Kids debuted in 1937 with Leo Gorcey and Huntz Hall as the main
characters. Evolving through several name changes along the way, they became
The Bowery Boys in 1946. Benard Gorcey the real life father of Leo Gorcey
played 'Louie Dumbrowski', owner of the boys' cherished hang-out, the soda
shop. He became a favorite  among series fans..
*******************************************
CLASSIC TV:
Remember Harry Von Zell, the announcer and series regular on the George
Burns, Gracie Allen Series that ran on TV from 1950-1958. Harry joined the
cast in 1951 and made a great foil for Gracie and did double duty as the
announcer.
